Rab and climbing are synonymous.  After an academic start to life, he was introduced to climbing and 48 years later the passion is unabated. After  a successful decade in the 70’s climbing big mountains, Rab returned to Sheffield where he and his wife,Sue, set up the company, imaginatively named, RAB designing and manufacturing clothing and equipment for Mountaineers and Climbers.

In 2007, Rab was diagnosed with cancer of the colon. Excellent treatment at the hands of Northern General Hospital in Sheffield has meant that he has made a full recovery.

Rab is now very happily retired and when he isn’t climbing he can be found helping out at the British Mountaineering Council or on his allotment.
