Cliffhanger Festival 2016: Volunteers Needed…

DSCF4491Sheffield’s Cliffhanger Festival returns this year over the weekend 9 –10 July and we are very happy to be one of only two charities offered a stand!

This year, Sheffield city centre will be transformed into a playground for outdoor adventure as the Festival returns with a new city centre location and free entry for everyone.

Cliffhanger is one of the UK’s biggest outdoor festivals and will be 10 years old this year.  We will be there along with Edale Mountain Rescue and have been offered a stand directly next to the British Mountaineering Council’s British Bouldering Championships on Devonshire Green.

However, we need volunteers to help on our stand if we are to accept our position at the festival

Can you help?

We need volunteers for all of the following sessions:

  • Sat 9th AM
  • Sat 9th PM
  • Sun 10th AM
  • Sun 10th PM

What does helping on our stand entail?

DSCF4504Our objective for the event is to meet and talk to as many people as possible, so that more people become aware of us as a local charity … so that we are able to encourage and support more people to challenge their cancer through adventure. We spend the weekend talking to festival visitors (and other exhibitors), explaining who CCTA is and what we do, giving out leaflets, playing with juggling toys and generally enjoying the show.

Please note: This is NOT a fundraising event for us, and you will NOT be asking anyone for donations.

Contact CCTA Trustee Corinna Lincoln, on email hidden; JavaScript is required and let us know what time and day you would like to help out.

Cliffhanger Festival is a major event in the UK outdoor festival calendar and is always an action packed weekend with dedicated areas for cycling, running and climbing and any other outdoor sport you can think of.  The highlight of the weekend is the British Mountaineering Council’s British Bouldering Championships where the nation’s strongest climbers battle it out, scaling a gigantic wall the size of three double decker buses, to reach the top spot.

Events and activities will be spread across various locations such as the Peace Gardens, Barkers Pool and Devonshire Green.  The Festival is a celebration of the outdoors, challenge and adventure and everything our great Outdoor City has to offer!

Even if you can offer only a small amount of time, we would be massively grateful for your help.  Our small local charity is run entirely by volunteers and being able to attend Cliffhanger is incredibly important for us to speak to people and let people know what we do.  Every year we meet more people we can help an every year we’re able to help more people challenge illness and a life changing diagnosis.

We are massively grateful for the chance to be at Cliffhanger this year, but we need your help to do it!
